Action:
[It was the sound of birds that woke Asami up, not an unusual sound, but not one she heard terribly often in her room at the Sato Mansion either. On the Air Temple Island though they were probably quite normal, she thought to herself as she shifted a bit, pressing her fingers into the grass under her hands and-
[What?]
[Her eyes opened with a start and she sat up, frowning at...the forest around her. Trees, and in the distance the sound of what might be people... The birds had all gone still at the sudden motion, but as she sat there, they began to chirp and tweet again, and the sound seemed to draw Asami from her shock. Where was she? How did she get here and what was she wearing?!]
[She plucked at the front of the white cotton sundress...not exactly terrible but not her style in any way, and a quick search of the area around her revealed her own clothing sitting in a pile on the ground nearby. Someone had undressed her, dressed her in this dress, dumped her in the woods of what looked like the earth kingdom and then...left her clothing for her? Because that made sense.]
[A quick search of the area revealed no one anywhere near the clearing she had woken up in, and once she was (relatively) satisfied, she scooped up her clothing and ducked behind a tree to change. But her attempt to remove the sundress had the fabric tugging on the strange, violet wings she hadn't noticed before, eliciting a startled noise of pain and surprise followed by a few minutes of examining them with her hands and what little she could see by turning her head. She had wings. What the hell was going on!?]
[A few minutes of changing and adjustment had her in her usual pants and the undershirt she typically wore beneath her coat, the back low enough that they were pressing lightly against the bottom of her wings but not enough to cause anything too uncomfortable. Except every time the fabric shifted the wings fluttered, which tickled and ached and that was...strange enough. She'd have to leave her jacket off until she found someone who could get whatever had happened to her reversed...]
[So she hung her jacket and the sundress over her arm as she started off towards the sounds she had heard.]
Video:
[It's a few hours later when she appears on the notebooks, sitting on the edge of a fountain in the town, the book resting on her knee. Someone she met has shown her the basics of it, and while she gets it, she's not really certain she actually understands it. So there is a view of her face leaning over, peering down at the page, her black hair hanging down and framing her for a moment before she...turns the notebook over suddenly, giving anyone watching a view of her pants-clad knee.]
...Is it working? Doesn't make any sense, it's just paper but...
[Her voice is muffled as she speaks to herself, and after a second the notebook flips back over and she frowns at the page again.]
I guess it is. Uhm. Hello! [She waves at the page for a moment then frowns, using her hand to brush her hair behind her ear before she forces it into her lap.] Assuming anyone can actually see this, I'm Asami Sato. I just...woke up in the woods, which apparently isn't as strange as I thought it was?
Right. Uh. Anyway.
People said I should say hello, so. That's what I'm doing. I feel kind of silly talking to a book but I suppose if it's doing what they said it would, I shouldn't...
Not that I can tell, of course.
[She picks up the book from her lap and gives it a little shake, which has her image bouncing around before she holds it a bit further away from her body, her head tilting to the side.]
...How do these work, anyway?
[ooc: Asami will be wandering around town looking at everything and trying to find a phone, so she can be most anywhere for runnings-into!]

Apparently not. Kind of makes you wonder if it's a rite of passage or something. [Still, she grins on her end, looking down at the journal in her lap.] I'm Zatanna. Nice to meet you.
The books are definitely weird. About all I can tell you is that there is mystical force involved, but I don't think that's all there is to it.
...So you woke up there too? I can't say it's the best way to ingratiate their new kidnappees...
Zatanna. Nice to meet you too. Mystic? Do you mean like spirits?
Re: [video]
[It definitely hadn't left Zatanna overly cheerful and giddy about being here. Then again, nothing really has.]
Not really. More like magic. [Which is about the point Zatanna remembers the whole bit about different worlds Artemis shared with her earlier.] Does your home have magic?
Not really. We have bending, which is like magic if you can't...and we have the spirit world but I just read about that in a book, I don't know anything about it.
Re: [video]
[And now they've been reduced to talking about the weather. Things are going downhill pretty fast.]
Bending? Can't say I've heard of that before. There are definitely spirits and ghosts where I come from, but like I said, that's not really what I meant in this case.
[She shifts the book again, leaning down a bit to peer more closely at it.]
It's hard to say anything more specific, though. I can sense that there's magic in play, but not what kind or even how it's working.
[She frowns then.]
You've never heard of bending? You know, fire benders and air benders...what about the Avatar?
Re: [video]
People bend fire and air? Huh. I'm guessing that's a bit more complicated than bending spoons. [It's no good. Zatanna's clueless, and she shakes her head.] Sorry. I'm guessing that's a big thing where you're from?
Benders are everywhere. They run Republic City, our electricity comes from Lightning benders, the fire lord is a bender...
[When she really phrased it like that, suddenly a little part of her can see why her Father was so against them. Even if everything he had doen about it was wrong.]
But they're good people. Most of them. ...Some of them. They're just like everyone else except for the powers. I know at least two of them are here?
Re: [video]
[Okay, so that's probably over-simplifying it a bit. But technology really isn't her forte, so she'll leave it to a more scientifically-minded person to explain where electricity comes from.
Zatanna's a bit more concerned about the rest of it, which sounds a lot like reassurance.] Hey, I'm fine with benders. And non-benders. I mean, I live with a clone and a Martian--back home, anyway.
[Not to mention Zatanna's own powers, but she might hold off on mentioning those for the moment.] So there are people you knew before here too? One of my teammates said she's been here two months already.
[A beat.] And I have no idea what a clone or a martian is. [She can't help but smile. This is all so strange.]
Yeah...apparently. I've only seen one of them, and I...only know him by reputation, but apparently some others are here too?
Re: [video]
I'm sorry. About your dad, I mean. It sounds like he was trying to do something really good for people.
[The rest is a little easier, at least.] I'm still fuzzy on the whole bender thing, so I think that makes us even. Mostly I was trying to say I'm used to people with different backgrounds and special abilities.
[She shrugs her shoulders, bypassing further explanations on her own end. Somehow she thinks going into either will probably just confuse Asami more.]
Reputation, huh? Hopefully it's a good one. [Zatanna thinks back to Artemis' reactions earlier that day, how she'd run up and grabbed Zatanna in a fierce hug.] It's probably good to have people you know here--or at least know of. I kind of got the idea it's a hard place to be in while you're alone.
It's the best reputation, assuming he's telling the truth. [A little smile.]
It must be awful if you're here and there isn't anyone else from where you come from.
Re: [video]
Listen. I know we've just met, but if you ever want to talk about it--your dad, I mean? I'll listen.
[And if she doesn't, that's fine too. Zatanna's not really the sort of person who likes to break down in front of others.]
Yeah? Well, if he doesn't live up to it, you'll probably find out pretty quickly. [Although she sort of hopes for Asami's sake that this guy does--especially with the comment that comes next.]
Yeah... [Her voice trails off, Zatanna thinking about Artemis now. There two months in that exact situation.] It really must be.
Well, it is mostly just whether or not he is who he claims to be...if he is, there's no way he's lying.
Re: [video]
[Which is as far into Zatanna's history as she wants to go. Better to focus on the mysterious friend who may or may not be who he says.]
So then you just have to figure out how to prove it. Which probably won't be too hard, since you said there are other people here from your world.
Yeah. But I mean if he is...I don't know. He's dead when I come from, and he's a little kid here!
Re: [video]
He must've been pulled from a different time. That happened to my friend and I too; I'm from a day into the future for her. Which is insane, because she's been here two months, but for me she hasn't been gone at all.
Re: [video]
I don't think it matters if we understand it or not. It's happening, and we have to deal with it.
I'm not very good at that.
Re: [video]
So, next best thing. How do you normally vent frustration?
But I haven't even seen a car here.
Re: [video]
You know, I haven't either? Not even a motorbike. And other things, like phones, although I guess the journals make up for those.
[She's actually a little worried about that.]
I suppose I won't be racing anytime soon.
Re: [video]
[It takes Zatanna a second, and flipping back a few pages.]
Right! The Battle Dome. You're supposed to be able to make simulations or something there.
